As you may have read on one of my posts, I am a Human Resource professional for a healthcare company. I went to a convention today, and Rob “Waldo” Waldman was the speaker. Waldo is a jet fighter-pilot, and has actually fought in combat. He is now a motivational speaker, and has been interviewed on CNN, and is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestseller for the book “Never Fly Solo”.
So why am I writing about him? As I sat there in that room of 400 peers, many of them were really paying attention, and then there were the ones who were constantly looking at their watch and wondering what time it would be over. I realized that I was not one of the people looking at my watch, I was listening with great interest to everything that he had to say because I found it fascinating. He was afraid of heights, scared to death of a diving board, and was claustrophobic before becoming a fighter-pilot. All of these things would make it impossible for someone to be a fighter-pilot if they were really unable to face these fears. He wanted it so bad, that he forced himself to face his fears, and it landed him a very happy and successful life.
So what are you doing right now? Are you sitting there trying to find some website online that will tell you that you can make it in the internet marketing world with their product? Or are you sitting there thinking that maybe it’s time to give it all up? I hope that neither one of those choices apply. Why? Because what you should be doing right now is thinking about what you are going to do after reading this post that is going to get one step closer to your goal of financial freedom. What does financial freedom mean to you? To me it does not necessarily mean quitting my job, but it does mean having the choice to if that’s what I decide.
Exactly one year ago, I remember every day thinking that maybe I am just living in some fantasy, and that it is not really possible to make an extra income on the internet. As the months have gone by since then, I began to realize that all I have to do is work a little harder, and eventually I will be exactly where I want to be. If you know anything about me, then you know that I have several dozen websites currently up and running. I am not going to get into how much money I’ve made with those sites, you can find that information by clicking here, but I do want to talk about how much time I have spent building them. Honestly, the ones that I am making most of my money from have been online for 1-2 years, and I hardly ever touch them. I probably spent 30-60- minutes on each site initially (this was when I first started creating them), and I am about 30 sites away from my goal for this year. Will I reach that in the next month? Probably not, but I know that I will get there eventually. After the holidays when things slow down a bit (or when I am on my week’s vacation between Christmas and New Year
). Either way, that is what I think about now instead of worrying that I have not reached my goal and that I should give up, I KNOW that I WILL reach my goal, and to not be too hard on myself.
You should always set goals. The one that I am currently working on is to not be such a perfectionist when it comes to making my sites. Don’t get me wrong, I like neat, clean websites, but I concern myself too much with the intricate details, and therefore I am robbing time from other sites that I could be building.
One more tip of the day. DO NOT expect to make thousands of dollars off of a few sites. In fact you are not going to make thousands of dollars off of 30 sites unless you have some huge list or fan base, which most of us don’t. Create your sites, and move on to the next. This is not going to happen overnight. If you can make 4-5 websites per week (yes there is a small investment for you to succeed), then you will get there! It’s just a matter of time. There are some websites that will make you more money than others, but you cannot count on that per site. You should reasonably count on about $1/day per website. That is the reality of it guys! Anyone out there telling you differently is just plain lying to you.
Do the math: $1/day x 30 days = $30/month
$30/month x 100 websites = $3000 month
$30/month x 200 websites = $6000 month
You can calculate what happens after that!
If you need help building your sites, please leave a comment with where you are having your problem(s), and I will try to direct you to the appropriate program. I will NEVER advise a program to you if I have not tried it myself. You have my word on that!
Goals for you:
Spend the next 20 minutes finding some good 3 word domain names with at least 3000 global searches/month
Choose one with a .com, .org, or .net domain name available and purchase it
Launch your site with at least a 400 word Page of unique content, and use the Wordpress blogging platform.
Need help, I am a comment away!
